Background

The Southern Cross Homes and Southern Cross Aged Care organisations are not-for-profit organisations founded and proudly supported by the Knights of the Southern Cross.

We provide independent living (self-care) units, supported living apartments, nursing homes, hostels and special care cottages at various locations throughout Australia for those members of the community who have reached retirement age. These residential options are complemented by wide-ranging Outreach (community) services which enable people to remain living independently for extended periods.

In partnership with our residents, we offer quality support and care in a spirit of Christian love and concern.

Our Mission
To reflect the love of Christ in promoting an awareness of the value of older people and through the provision of quality accommodation and care services for older members of our community, to provide for their comfort and security in a Christian environment and to facilitate their having lives of dignity and purpose according to individual aspirations and needs.


Standards of Care
Those members of the community, who choose to make use of our care facilities, are assured of the highest quality of care. In fact, we are considered to be leaders in the standards of care by both Federal and State Governments. For example, our facilities at Broken Hill, NSW have been recognised by the Flinders University of SA and the University of New England as a training venue for Assistants in Nursing, Enrolled Nurses and Registered Nurses due to our superior provision of Aged Care. This level of care is available at our facilities throughout Australia.
